J.D. joined Canton Street Mortgage in January 2009 and has more than ten years experience as a mortgage consultant.
Prior to entering the mortgage business in 1998, JD spent six years in a variety of logistics-related jobs as a
Captain in the United States Army.
J.D. is a past president of the Georgia Association of Mortgage Brokers (GAMB) and a member of the Board of Directors
for the Georgia Real Estate Fraud Prevention and Awareness Coalition (GREFPAC). JD served on the GAMB board of
directors from 2003 through 2008, the Georgia Mortgage Brokers Political Action Committee (GMBPAC) board since
2005 and has been very active in the GAMB Legislative committee. J.D.'s involvement has aided these groups
making tremendous strides in strengthening relationships with state and national officials to ensure that
Mortgage Brokers' and small business interests are considered before passing any new legislation or regulation.
As a member of the GAMB, JD ranked as one of the Top Gun individual and company producers every year.
J.D. is a native of Anderson, S.C., is a member of the National Eagle Scout Society and prior to his service in
the Army, received his Bachelor of Science degree from Furman University in Greenville, S.C. While attending
Furman he met his wife Kelli. They were married in 1994, currently live in Alpharetta, GA and Kelli now spends
her time home-schooling their three boys, David, Alex and Max.
J.D. is an active member and volunteer at North Point Community Church and with the Seed Company (a division of
Wycliffe Bible Translators) and has many personal interests; however, most recently his hobbies have revolved
around activities enjoyed by his three boys (karate (watching them, not participating), pillow fights,
